The Re-Development Group (RDG) was formed in the fall of 1998 with the goal of being an integral part of downtown redevelopoment and community renewal. Extensive networking was done to understand the complex issues of downtown redevelopment to help formulate our business model. With the information gathered during the networking phase, RDG focused on investing in real estate, rehabbing unused housing stock and redeveloping vacant lots. In addition to the real estate redevelopment, RDG also focused on engaging neighborhood stakeholders as well as city and non-profit agencies committed to community renewel. RDG understood early on that downtown redevelopment needed to be a collaborative effort if it were to succeed.
In order to maintain a sustainable business, RDG needed to recognize the major market changes during the last 11 years and then adjust our business to meet these new demands. RDG's attention to both process improvement and workforce development were and continue to be key elements in keeping up with the rapidly changing urban market.
The strategy continues to be flexible. Our role as a redeveloper is defined by each unique project and community we target. Our role as a builder and general contractor is defined by our very diverse client base. The original vision of community renewal, which includes "Green Building Practices," www.usgbc.org/nahbgreen.org; and development practices which are defined as SMART Growth Principles www.smartgrowth.org. We at RDG are committed to both "Green Building Practices" and SMART Growth Development Principles.
